Gorbleshnoot

 Hah! Went on a blog hiatus back there. Weird when I have lots to blog but I'm totally lazy to blog it in. Tsk tsk... lazy bones, lazy bones. Forgive me, my friends. I will try sum everything up.

 The Ilocos Norte trip

 It was okay - 11 hours of travelling by bus. Sorta lost blood circulation in the rear end but it was cool. I was alone in the 2 seater and gave me enough space to sprawl my legs a bit. That's a major plus plus. I read books (handy dandy flashlight) and memorized (haha!) all songs embedded on my Mp3. the telly wasn't on, actually it was lights off, so it was kinda boring a bit. It wasn't until we reached La Union (around 2:30 am) that I enjoyed the scenery. It was all illuminated by the moon. The plains where basked in its light giving it a romantic-gothic look. Nice photo-op opportunity - only, the bus was moving.

  We reached San Nicholas around 6 am. A brief breakfast chow and off to sleep. I slept until 11 am coz it became extremely humid.

 Nothing to do the whole day except watch limited t.v. channels, play CIV IV, and read. I wanted to go to the beach but of course time was limited so I couldn't. It's almost 2 hours away - go figure.

  I slept in my bro's room that night because a huge spider was up there in the ceiling. I "unfortunately" found out about it when this huge roach came flying in while I was already dozing off. When I'm in a different house, I'm a light sleeper so a faint rush will send me to turn on the lights. Igs. A huge no-no.

 My bro offered to kill it but he warned me oh so nicely that if the spider runs away, it will return to, oh I don't know, avenge his untimely shoo-ing? So off I go to bro's abode.

 On our 2nd day there, we went to Laoag to check out the gowns. Laoag, by the way, is a jeepney ride away from San Nicholas. It's the heart of civilization (hehe). I was tempted to surf the net at Netopia but I passed. Yes, Netopia exists in Ilocos.

 Then things became weird for me mucho. People in the streets, the vendors, the dressmaker : they all spoke Ilocano. I get lost after the second syllable and I always go WTF. I was like lost in Burma and apparently clueless. I kinda expected that it would be tht way but it's different when you're in that situation.

 TBC

 I promise I'll continue this tomorrow!! :D

Who is "Blue Cheese"?

Posted by Blue_Starfish at 12:47 PM on October 1, 2006.

 The cons of having too much codenames for a certain person: You forget who's who.

 I can't believe my Livejournal account is still alive. It's been 2 years since I logged in on that account of mine. Makes me laugh at how ridiculous some of my entries.

 By the by...

 Who is Blue Cheese? Who is Mr. Meepit?

 Blue Cheese, as what my past post said, is a jerk. I know a lot of Jerks so who's he among them?

 Ah. No need to contemplate about it further. What's gone is gone and what's done is done.

 Whoever these morons are...plfkt. Heh.

 Ack. I'm torn between leaving my Tabulas and having a new pretty-fied one at Blogger. I really need to learn CSS. I feel retarded... really.

  ~~~
 I like Nicki Hilton a lot better than Paris. For me she's more chic and decent than her younger older (thanks Gabs for the info ) sister. She's very simple but elegant. I really admire her fashion sense and her toned-down look. She doesn't go hoochie. Hehe.
  ~~~

 2 more days to go before I leave. I'll be back Monday next week.

  ~~~
 Agh. I can't find a copy of Lovely Bones (Sebold). I've got to have one! Manong texted me saying they're out of it and would restock sometime next week. I can't wait next week! I want to read something new while riding on the effin' bus for more than 9 hours. GAHHH!
 Or I'll just buy some other book. Meef.
Comp got pwned and...wtf?
Posted by Blue_Starfish at 03:13 PM on September 30, 2006.
 Heh.
 3 Days to go before leaving for Ilocos Norte. Lolz. I know it's not New York or Australia but it's still great. I decided to get a one-seater. Just in case. I want some alone time.
 I haven't made a script yet .
 My other computer's getting pwned already. I better have it reformatted. I'll just install games afterwards.
 Hoodeehoo.
 I'm researching for the wedding now. Lolz. I have stumbled upon some very interesting facts about wedding traditions.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
 Why Brides stand on the left side of the groom
 - The origin of this goes back to the days when a groom would capture his bride by kidnapping her. If the groom had to fight off other men who also wanted her as their bride, he would hold his bride-to-be with his left hand allowing his right hand to be free to use his sword.
 Now that's what I call fending them off bay.
 Meaning of Bride
 - The word bride comes from old English being a name for 'cook', which explains a lot! While groom originated from 'male child' , it would be logically to think that bridegroom meant male cook. But it does not. Instead, bridegroom is a Germanic word meaning exactly what is appears to mean - simply, the man who is marrying the bride.
 *shakes fist violently*
 Wedding Veil
 - The origin of the wedding veil is unclear but it is thought that it predates the wedding dress by centuries. One explanation is that it is a relic of the days when a groom would throw a blanket over the head of the woman of his choice when he captured her and carted her off.
 ---ohhkay.
 Another explanation is that during the times of arranged marriages, the bride's face was covered until the groom was committed to her at the ceremony - so it would be too late for him to run off if he didn't like the look of her!
 ---that figures.
 It is also thought that the veil was worn to protect the bride from evil spirits that would be floating around on her wedding day.
 ---like, let's say, her soon to be mother-in-law?
 Oh and to those who will attend someone's wedding, and will be one of the bridesmaid ---
 - if a bridesmaid slept with a piece of wedding cake beneath her pillow she might dream of her future husband
 Can you spell "ants"?
 It's fun reading origins of stuffs. Highly entertaining but some makes you want to say WTF too many times.
 What origins can you share? (Not the beauty products, mind you..)
